In the north of Turkey, in Trabzon to be precise, the city administration has built a stunning three-storey Bus Station that not only alleviates urban traffic congestion, but also scores with an impressive BEMO-MONRO® standing seam roof made of Aluminium. This innovative roof design not only sets new visual standards, but also proves its efficiency and adaptability to the special climatic conditions of the region.

The Bus Station combines 28 platforms, a parking lot, social area, restaurants and business premises on around 9,260m². The project was deliberately designed by Studio3 Mimarlık to be permeable and spacious with an iconic flowing roof shape that touches the ground at two points. The aim was to create a Bus Station that meets all needs – whether for a short or longer stay.

The perfect protection against a humid, subtropical climate: BEMO- MONRO® standing seam roof made of Aluminium

The choice of material for the roof was crucial, as the project region in the north of Turkey is confronted with heavy rainfall and a humid climate. Here, the free-form BEMO- MONRO® standing seam roof made of Aluminium proved to be the ideal solution. The flexible BEMO-DOME substructure, consisting of curved Aluminium tubes and extruded PI brackets, ensures a corrosion-free structure and enables the creation of a single-skin roof that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. In addition, BEMO-DOME’s design makes it a highly flexible system that is particularly suitable for cylindrical or curved structures.

Customized planning and flexible implementation

The challenges on site required an individual approach. A team of experts from BEMO had a precise 3D measurement carried out and developed a detailed plan to perfectly design the curved roof surface. During the construction period, BEMO not only demonstrated the flexibility of its products, but also responded flexibly to desired changes to ensure the optimal design of the substructure and panel shape.

Perfect fit for special requirements

The 3,000 m² standing seam sheets of the roof were realized with curved BEMO-MONRO® N65 profiles made of Aluminium (1 mm thick). The freely formable BEMO-MONRO® system was specially developed for undulating, flowing cladding and proved to be the ideal solution for the Trabzon Bus Terminal. The coating in the colour 9003 not only lends an elegant appearance, but is also tailored to the special climatic conditions.

Focus on efficiency and cooperation

The installation of the roof was carried out on site by our experienced partner DAVTEK, while BEMO ensured that the highest quality standards were met. The smooth supply chain and on-time delivery of all materials just before the project opening underlines not only the efficiency but also BEMO’s commitment to deliver on time, even under challenging conditions.

The BEMO-MONRO® standing seam roof has not only architecturally enhanced the Bus Station in Trabzon, but also represents a pioneering solution for modern, demanding projects in humid and subtropical climates. With its unique design and functional flexibility, it sets new standards for future-orientated architecture.
