A new office building that is more than just a functional shell: The headquarters of Jöbstl Bauerngut GmbH are currently being built in Straß in Styria – designed by the Graz-based architectural firm Andrea Vattovani Architecture and executed by an experienced specialist company from the region. A project that combines functionality, material aesthetics and technical sophistication in a clear architectural concept.

Metal as a connecting element: roof and façade in one cast

The office building is being built directly next to the existing building and will be connected via a connecting wing. Striking and at the same time well thought-out: The building envelope is made entirely of metal, with the metal roof flowing into the façade. The design consistency of this approach required not only precision in planning, but also technical flexibility in implementation.

With the BEMO standing seam system, the desired look and functionality could be convincingly realized. Three different profile widths (VF65-250, VF65-350, VF65-434) were processed, which create a rhythmically structured surface across the roof and façade. Supported by a light-coloured metal cladding in RAL 9001 with the resistant BEMO-FLON PROTECT coating and dark contrasting frames at window and door openings, an exciting contrast is created that gives the building depth.

Technical Highlights

The façade end in the base area follows an oblique line – another challenge that was implemented with high precision. Particularly noteworthy are also perforated façade elements, which were used in front of large-scale glazing and meet not only design but also functional aspects such as sun protection and lighting control.

Behind the façade profiles is the rain gutter – a design detail that contributes to the clear lines. The total area of the metal cladding for the roof and façade is around 1300 m². For photovoltaic installation, a structure is implemented with the BEMO AKKORD system.

Architectural language and sustainability in harmony

Of particular interest to architects: With the selected standing seam system, both the roof and the façade could be solved consistently with just one product system – economically efficient, formally consistent.

In the long term, the building owner benefits from a low-maintenance and durable building envelope, while at the same time sustainability criteria are met: The BEMO products used can be completely dismantled and separated – making them fully recyclable.

Result

The new construction of the Jöbstl office building shows how technical precision and design standards can work together on an equal footing. Metal is not only understood here as a shell, but as an architectural element that interlocks structure, materiality and function. A successful example of integrated planning, in which consulting, design and execution are seamlessly intertwined.
